A Fistful of Games

by

CMON has started off Q3 by punching it right in the mouth.  As if invading SDCC and rocking Kickstarter Gold with A Song of Ice and Fire weren’t enough, they’ve just released some of their most anticipated titles of the year.  As of today, you can head down to your FLGS for some offers you can’t refuse.

CMON New Releases July 2017
Banana Bandits, Gang Rush: Breakout, The Godfather: Corleone’s Empire, Modern Art, and Sherlook

In The Godfather: Corleone’s Empire, you control of one of the five families looking to take over New York’s organized crime world if something unfortunate should happen to Don Corleone. Eric M. Lang has seamlessly blended together worker placement with area control as each family fights over Turf in 1950s New York City. Over the course of four tense Acts, you’ll send out Family Members and Thugs to shake down businesses, collect illegal goods, and complete jobs for the Don. Each round, you’re able to bribe powerful allies to join your organization. They can be a big asset, but be careful how much you spend to acquire their services. At the end of the day, the family with the most money will take control of the city.

Speaking about making money for the big boss, in Gang Rush: Breakout, you’ll load up your car with as much illegally acquired loot as you can and attempt to get it across the border. All of the action takes place on the unique 3D bridge game board. Balance going fast with keeping control of your car. If you drive off the bridge, you’re going to need a crane to get you out of the drink, costing you valuable time. In Gang Rush: Breakout, you need to avoid obstacles, slow down the other drivers, and elude the border patrol if you want to take your rightful place as the right-hand man for the boss.

You might want to set your sights a little higher than right-hand man, like say, the head of the organization towering over the city. In Banana Bandits, the head of a gorilla crime organization is retiring and his top lieutenants are vying for the position. You’ll do battle with your fellow apes across the 3D building that makes up the board. Spend action points to move, fight, and pick up coins. Power cards can help you throughout the game and give you an advantage over your simian competition. Be the first gorilla to collect three Banana coins and you’ll ascend to the top of the operation!

If you want to play a game on the other side of the law, Sherlook tests your powers of perception to solve a crime. A rookie beat cop has messed with your crime scene, and now you have to compare two nearly identical photos to see what’s changed. You’ll be competing with other detectives, with the fastest and most accurate cop winning the game. You’ll be tested over ten rounds, and the cop that has the best eye for details will come out on top.

Maybe your eye is better suited to the world of art than crime solving. Modern Art allows you to enter the high stakes world of international art auctions. You will be buying and selling art pieces from five of the most talented artists in the world today. The goal is to make the most money for your museum, but the value of the works depends on the interest of the market. Art lovers are fickle and what’s in fashion one season may be passé the next. There are five different types of auctions that put your bidding skills to the test.

Whether you want to ascend to the top of a criminal organization (family-run, border-adjacent, or gorilla-based), solve crimes with the power of your vision, or make a splash in the world of modern art, CMON has a game that will fit the bill! Head in to your FLGS today to pick up one of these hot new titles.
