A Chronicle of HATE

The Kickstarter campaign for HATE is now live!  Don’t forget to submit your pledge before 2/7/18.  If you’re on the fence for some reason about the $120 Tyrant pledge, you can always pledge $1 and make the final decision in a few months when the pledge manager arrives.  Of course, you can always check back here too.  We’ll do our best to keep an up-to-date summary of the campaign as new things are announced and revealed.

HATE seems to be starting off with a somewhat different feel than CMON’s past campaigns, owing mostly to the fact that it contains “Mature” content and is entirely Kickstarter-Exclusive.  This time, there are also a few other campaigns (Nemesis, Western Legends) starting around the same time that have drawn backers attention.  Social media is filled to bursting with folks debating which campaign to back if they can only afford one.  However, that hasn’t stopped the flurry of early stretch-goals zooming by at a brisk pace.  After fully funding in under 20 minutes, the first day alone had roughly 4,600 backers pledging more than $500,000 which outpaces The World of SMOG: Rise of Moloch by a good margin.

Having the entire project being Kickstarter-Exclusive is also proving to come with fringe benefits.  For example, Thiago has confirmed that the goal is for everything revealed to fit in a single box.  Normally, for ease of production, all backers would get a “retail” copy of the core game with extra bland-looking brown cardboard boxes to hold the stretch goals.  There is no “retail” version to produce this time, so CMON can make the box as big and elaborate as needed.  Similarly, cardboard tokens can be replaced entirely by their 3D Plastic counterparts.
